Books have a way of multiplying and slowly taking over shelves, tables, floors — and sometimes entire rooms. Maybe they no longer match your current interests, or you’re wondering why you’re still holding onto Mom or Dad’s collection. Clearing them out frees up valuable space in your home — for new hobbies, a fresh start, or even (let’s be honest) new books.

You’re Downsizing or Moving

Downsizing or making a big move (maybe somewhere warm and sunny!) can feel overwhelming. Books are often stacked everywhere — and they’re heavy. Let us handle the lifting and logistics so you have one less thing to worry about during an already busy time.

Estate or Family Cleanouts

Cleaning out a family home or a loved one’s estate is emotional. You know the items need to be sorted, but you also want them treated with care and respect. The Book Girls handle each collection as if it were our own, thoughtfully finding new homes for the books whenever possible — allowing the previous owner’s legacy to continue through new readers.

With many ways to clear out old books, what makes The Book Girls unique? We pride ourselves on quick responses, usually picking up within a few days. We also work to ensure your books find a new home, keeping them out of landfills with our diverse outlets.

Books we're looking for

We are especially interested in books copyrighted before 1985, including both adult and children’s titles. Most subjects are welcome, and we accept both hardcover and paperback editions.

Books should be in good, readable condition — free from mold, heavy musty odors, or significant damage (such as missing pages or loose bindings).

At this time, we generally do not accept textbooks (unless copyrighted before 1950) or encyclopedias.

After your books are picked up

Once we pick up your books, they are carefully sorted and thoughtfully evaluated. Each book goes to one of four places:

  • Donated to local organizations such as The Salvation Army, Goodwill Industries, or local Literacy Volunteers programs

  • Added to our personal collection

  • Sold through our eBay store

  • Responsibly recycled if they are too damaged to be reused

Our goal is simple: to find every book a new home whenever possible and keep as many books as we can out of landfills.
